Range is built for the kitchen/grill environment, but in order to get a long life out of it:
- Be gentle in unplugging the probes. When detaching a probe from your device, grip the plug and pull out without jerking it. Do not unplug it by pulling the cable.
- Keep it away from excessive heat. Most Ranges are built to withstand 450ºF (230ºC). The fiberglass cable on the Coal (black) Range can withstand 1200ºF (650ºC) for short amounts of time. That's enough to shake off the occasional flareup, but extended exposure to flame will kill it (and the probe itself is still rated for 450ºF).
- Hand wash your Range. No dishwasher, please. The silicone cables are waterproof, but high pressure water in dishwashers may force its way in.
