When in portrait orientation, drag your finger starting anywhere up to the desired temperature, and lift your finger to set an alert. Drag the alert again to adjust the temperature. The default option will alert you when the temperature triggers in the direction away from the current temperature. A long tap on the alert will cycle between notifications for rising alerts, falling alerts, and both.
